Phillip is considered one of the premier dancers in North America, he dances the “Old Style” Grass Dance. In his presentations he shares the “Grass Dance Story” which sends a message of “Spiritual, Emotional, and Physical Healing” The story tells of a boy who was paralyzed from the waist down. The boy with the help of his grandfather sought a vision in the badlands. The boy came back with a story and a gift of 7 Eagle Plumes to bring back to his people. The people gathered, and the boy shared his vision of a horse prancing before a storm, the storm comes with rain, the storm passes and a rainbow appears. The storm will bring challenges in life, the rain will bring purification, and the spirit of the horse and the rainbow is a vision of hope. Through the grass dance he imitated a horse before a storm, the background of his dance regalia represented the storm and the colors of the regalia represented a rainbow. The fringe on his regalia represented the grass blowing in the wind. The eagle plumes placed on his regalia brought him powers. He moved from the ground up in a circle to the left and then to the right, until gradually he was upright dancing. Through this dance the boy was healed. This is a powerful story.

Phillip performs this dance with the emotion and feeling of the boy that was healed.
